As believers, we need to understand the importance of our election. We are chosen and this means that we have been hand-picked by God. Chosen from where to where? Just as Jesus at the beginning of His ministry chose the twelve, so are we chosen today. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9. You have been set apart from the world in order to belong completely to God to proclaim His praise and glory. Right from the fall of man, God has always chosen people to bring his plans and purposes to come on the earth. Abraham was chosen and separated so as to establish a covenant that will bring the ultimate covenant which Jesus brought us (Genesis 12:1). It is God’s business to choose his special instrument and then we are persuaded that we are in line of his purpose. We have absolutely no right to question the wisdom of His appointment. I want us to understand today that we have been chosen by God, chosen to holiness which means being consecrated to the Lord’s service and being separated from what we used to be. To this point, what have you been chosen to do? John 15:16 says “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you”. You have been chosen out of the world to bear fruit. Jesus said that we are chosen and ordained which means that we have been ordered to bring forth fruit. Just like David was called from tending the flock of his father, Moses was called from Horeb from tending the flock of Jethro to be the shepherd of God’s people. God is calling you out of the commonplace right now and ordaining you to be an instrument in His hands. You are chosen to fulfill the promises of God in your life. The enemy may try to oppose the word of God spoken over your life, but you must get ready to walk in the light of the gospel.
